Have you decided to add a pool to your yard? If so, the next step is choosing a style. There are three main types of pool construction: vinyl liner, concrete, and fiberglass. Each has its distinct pros and cons.

Our vinyl liner pools are built using poured concrete walls and a vermiculite floor. The liner then sits inside this structure. This type of pool is the most cost-effective. They are highly customizable, although not to the extent of a concrete pool. The main item to consider from a maintenance standpoint is that the vinyl liner must be replaced occasionally. The life of a liner depends on many factors, but it is not uncommon for them to last about ten years. Liners can be punctured, so extra caution should always be taken to ensure that no sharp objects come into contact with these pools. At J&M, we pride ourselves on creating some of the most beautiful Vinyl Pools in Coweta County. We regularly incorporate spas and water features in our vinyl liner pools.

Concrete pools are the most customizable type of pool. If you can dream it, J&M can likely build it. These pools are very strong since the outer shell is constructed entirely of rebar and concrete. Even though concrete pools cost more to build than vinyl liner pools, the interior finish can last anywhere from 15 to 30 years. Pebble finishes are known for lasting 20+ years and aging very well. The durability of a concrete pool cannot be understated. They don’t develop punctures, tears, or leaks like a liner can because they’re made of concrete. Many of the most luxurious Concrete Pool Constructions in Fayette County are done by our teams at J&M Pool Company.

Fiberglass pools require a larger investment than vinyl liner pools, but there is no liner to replace or interior finish to be resurfaced. Fiberglass pools come as an entirely prebuilt shell and are dropped into place on-site, which makes the installation time for a fiberglass pool much shorter than the other types of pools. Due to the material, these pools generally last a minimum of 30 years before needing to be replaced. Fiberglass pools are the least customizable of the three types. Manufacturers offer different sizes, shapes, and colors, but you are limited to their selections.
